These were the results of running Geekbench for 32 bit on 32 bit Windows XP, and running Geekbench for 64 bit on 64 bit Windows XP x64.
Look at the Overall score the 32 bit gives a score of 154.1 while 64 bit gives a score of 180.7, Notice that the score of 180.7 was reached because of "Dot Product" score under "Floating point performance". I don't know why such high score was reached under x64 environment. But if u don't consider it, there is only a slight improvement over 32 bit environment.
If it was a true 64 bit processor, with a true 64 bit OS, performance would have been approximately doubled !
In some benchmarks the 32 bit performs better than 64 bit. This concludes there is no such thing as "True 64 bit environment" when you consider Intel 64 ( i.e. EMT64T). And since Intel 64 is similar to AMD64, AMD 64 is also not a true 64 bit!
The reason we want to move to a 64-bit environment is the performance improvement it provides over 32 bit. I am not talking about slight improvements, I am talking about actual improvements a 64 bit environment should give, which should at least come some where close to double that of a 32 bit.
